To promote excellence in education for seekers of knowledge by giving them two bequests – the first is Roots, the second is Wings.
Commecs College was founded in 1993 by Commecs Educational Trust (CET), a not-for-profit organization, formed by COMMECS (the alumni association of Government College of Commerce & Economics) in 1988. The trustees were concerned at the dearth of good educational institutions in the fields of business, science and technology. As its first step, CET established the Commecs Institute of Business Education (CIBE) in 1993 (Now known as “Commecs College”). Three programmes were offered:
The educational standards were set to conform to the vision of the founders. Encouraged and motivated by the initial success, CET launched the science discipline in the year 2003 and changed the name of the institute to Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences (CIBES).
In May 2007, CIBES received a charter from Government of Sindh and recognition from Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a Degree Awarding Institute and started its own BBA and MBA degree programmes, at 40-B PECHS. With this status IBA-affiliated programmes were discontinued.
Commecs College at present is running an Intermediate Programme in affiliation with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), offering the disciplines of:
Commander (R) Tanveer Ahmad TI (M) took over as Principal Commecs College Jauhar Campus on August 7, 2019.
Cdr. (R) Tanveer possesses Master Degrees in Physics, War Studies (Maritime) and Administrative Science from BZU Multan, NDU Islamabad and Karachi University respectively. He was awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) in 2006 for his meritorious services.
Cdr. (R) Tanveer Ahmad possesses vast teaching and administrative experience having spent over 26 years in Pakistan Navy’s Education branch. He served in multi-disciplinary educational environments of the Navy starting his career with an institute imparting technical training to Pakistan Navy sailors and apprentices. He has the distinct honour of serving Pakistan Naval Academy twice in his career, where he taught and trained cadets, the custodians of sea frontiers. He had two stints each at Maritime Operations Training Complex and Pakistan Navy Engineering College – a constituent of NUST. He did his Staff Course from Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and had the honour to serve there as faculty member and Directing Staff (Plans). He also has the honour of serving higher headquarters to look after matters of not only Bahria Colleges, Bahria Schools in coastal areas of Balochistan, but also the Cadet Colleges under administrative control of Pakistan Navy. Towards the end of his career, he has been Director of Studies and Fleet Education & Training Officer.
